Interesting story about this picture. An event I’m helping out with a group renting the Civic Center. We went on a tech tour of the building and there was this OLD lamp in the middle of the stage, I was curious.
Asked the stage manger what was up, he said it was bad luck to not have the lamp out there. Further, in the days of old, it wasn’t appropriate for anyone other than union workers to do anything backstage. So, to keep union workers from having to be employed 24/7, a lamp was put out to light the facility.
I’ll let you google the veracity of what I was told. I enjoyed the story and will choose to believe it.
